- Tularemia (Rabbit Fever)
- SYMPTOMS include sudden chills, fever (103 to 104), nausea, vomiting, severe
- prostration and headache. This will be followed by recurring chills and
- sweating, great weakness and soon, at the site of the infection, a small
- sore will develop. A red rash that is generalized may appear at any stage.
- CAUSES. Francisella tularensis, a bacterium that is found in rodents and
- wild rabbits, causes an acute infection.
- TREATMENT. Warm-water compresses, antibiotics and medication for headache.
